Directions from Alicante
Airport
It would be beneficial to point out that public transport links between
the airport and Moraira are not the best. If not hiring a car, which is
the best thing to do, then a taxi is the most direct method but would
cost over £50.00, each way.
Most people hire a car and therefore we advise the best route to follow
would be to head out of the airport following the blue motorway signs
directing you towards VALENCIA. The road number is A7. It is very easy
to go wrong here and find yourself heading in completely the wrong
direction, the roads signs are quite complex and come along at very
frequent intervals and you can find yourself in the wrong lane. Take it
easy and keep a good look out for the VALENCIA signs. If you find out
you are heading to Murcia or Madrid turn around at the next available
intersection, although soon after leaving the airport you will see a
sign saying both Murcia and Valencia, that is ok.
Once you get on the A7 everything becomes plain sailing for around 80
Kms or so, just make sure the sea is to your right otherwise it means
you are heading south instead of north. At first there is a free stretch
of motorway but then you have to pick up a ticket from a toll booth just
the other side of Alicante. Keep on the motorway until you come to
Junction 63, the BENISSA and TEULADA turnoff. This is where you pay the
toll. It is currently just about €6.
This is the slip road which leads to the N332. You quickly come to fork
in the road and it seems to branch to the right. Do not take this road
but continue straight on, this slip road then bends very sharply to the
right and brings you up on to the main carriageway for TEULADA and
MORAIRA. Turn right and follow the road down the hill and round a few
bends until you reach a roundabout with a Red Cross (Cruz Roja)
Emergency Ambulance centre on the left and a pottery/souvenir shop on
the right. Turn right here and this will lead you through a series of
new roundabouts into TEULADA.
Follow the road straight through the town, through several sets of
traffic and pedestrian lights and right at the top of the town there is
a small junction at which you take the second exit from the right (at
this point there may be a large blue and yellow sign for La Cumbre Del
Sol) and there should also be a sign for BENITACHELL or BENITAXELL. The
road winds for about 2 miles and as you enter BENITACHELL the road bends
to the first right (road becomes Padre Placido) which should be sign
posted La Cumbre Del Sol. Go down the road, over a traffic light
junction and you will reach a second set of lights. Take the right fork
into Carretera Assegador and after about 300 yards the road starts to
climb steeply. At the top you enter La Cumbre and you will see two
receptions. Follow the main road towards the Playa (Beach), past a
supermarket and down a steep right bend. As you come out of the bend,
the entrance to ATENEA is on your right. Park at the end nearest the
houses, and then walk along the back of the properties. Number 201 is
the last but one house.
Our Agent, Salco La Cumbre, is in one of the businesses next to the
Supermarket. There are some local maps and directions in the house.
Please note that the spelling of towns can be different ie Benitachell
or Benitaxell, and Javea is often spelt Xabia.
